Among the cliffs of the archipelago on Seacrow Island, new fun and exciting summer adventures unfold with Tjorven, her loyal companion Båtsman, Stina, Pelle, Melker, Malin with little Skrållan, and a host of other characters. The series is based on one of Astrid Lindgren’s most beloved TV series, now with a screenplay by Karin Arrhenius and direction by Fredrik Edfeldt.

Premiere on SVT on October 31. The series is a co-production between SF Studios, SVT, Film Stockholm, and Astrid Lindgren AB, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Tillväxtverket.

Astrid Lindgren's Seacrow Island

The new version of Saltkråkan was filmed in the summer of 2024 in the Stockholm archipelago, specifically on Utö, Svartlöga, and Möja. The series is based on Astrid Lindgren’s TV series and films from the 1960s and is set in the present day.

The original Seacrow Island

Having had a summer residence in the archipelago for 30 years, Astrid Lindgren thought she knew the environment well enough to write about it. Seacrow Island is the only one of her stories written directly for television.

In the second film about Tjorven and life on Seacrow Island, Malin and Peter have a baby, Skrållan. It quickly becomes clear that she is a wild child — something that grandfather Melker especially comes to realize.

Astrid Lindgren

Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren was born on the 14th of November 1907 on the farm Näs outside Vimmerby, in the county of Småland, and died on the 28th January 2002 in her home on Dalagatan 46 in Stockholm. She wrote 34 chapter books and 41 picture books, that all together have sold a staggering 170 million copies and been translated into more than 100 languages.
