    The master detective Kalle Blomkvist is only thirteen years old, but a very skilled detective in any case. He lives in a small idyllic town together with Anders and Eva-Lotta. Happy battles are fought between the Whites and the Reds, and everything is as lovely as it can only be when you're on summer vacation But then something happens that interrupts the fun and throws the master detective and his friends into life-threatening adventures.The book won a prize in Rabén & Sjögren's prize competition for detective stories for boys and girls aged 12–15. It was not illustrated in the first editions, but later illustrated by Eva Laurell. The book was later also illustrated by Eric Palmquist with a cover by Ilon Wikland.

    Astrid Lindgren in Norway

    The first to bring Astrid Lindgren's books abroad was the publisher Damm & Søn in Oslo, with their Norwegian edition of "Pippi Longstocking" already appearing in 1946. This marked the beginning of a long-standing relationship. Today, most of her books in Norway are published by Cappelen Damm, a publishing house formed through the merger of Cappelen and Damm. Astrid's book adaptations into films also became popular in Norway, as did her famous songs. One of Astrid Lindgren's favorite books was "Hunger" by the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun; she often mentioned it as one of her greatest reading experiences.
