"After an eventful birth, Ronja, the daughter of the robber chief Mattis and his wife Lovis, grows up to be a bright ten-year-old girl in the shelter of Mattisburg. When Mattis one day gives his beloved daughter permission to leave the castle, Ronja becomes very curious to explore the forest with all its secrets. During one of her forays she meets Birk, the son of Borka, whose gang of robbers has moved in on the north side of the castle. They become friends and experience many adventures together. But because of the feud between their families they are forced to keep their friendship a secret...The series, based on the popular classic Ronja Räubertochter by Astrid Lindgren, is Studio Ghibli's first and only TV series to date, the animations of which were mainly created by Polygon Pictures.
