    Author:Astrid Lindgren
    Director:Göran Graffman

On Junedale, Mardie lives with little sister Lisabet, mother and father and the family's maid Alva. In the house next door lives Abbe whom Mardie likes so terribly much - although he lies in her that his great-grandfather Count Krook haunts the brewhouse where a treasure is hidden. With Mardie's help, Abbe will trick the ghost into telling her where the treasure is, but he is almost scaring the life out of her during the coup.New things are constantly happening at Junibacken. "This day we shall never forget," Dad says when the family goes on a trip to celebrate Mom's birthday. He couldn't know how right he would be! Who could have guessed that the food sack would be eaten in a tree because a bunch of angry bulls realized they were invited too? Another excursion that will soon be forgotten was when Madicken and Lisabeth climbed up on the roof to look at the view. And Madicken thought about whether it shouldn't be possible to fly down with the help of an umbrella... ""You're not wise Mardie"" says Lisabet, and this time she's actually right. Because it's like old Linus-Ida says: ""If God had wanted man to fly, he would have made a bird instead"". But whatever it is, almost everything ends almost always well at Junibacken, even when peas get stuck in Lisabet's nose and when Madicken and schoolmate Mia beat each other bloody.Mardie began recording in the spring of 1978 and was directed by Göran Graffman, while Olle Hellbom preferred to be the producer. Out of 2,000 girls who wanted to play Mardie, Jonna Liljendahl was chosen and Liv Alsterlund got the role of Lisabet. Finding environments to shoot in required a lot of work. In the end, they found a farm that suited Junibacken very well, but the house had to be rebuilt for several months to remove all modernities such as electricity lines and the like. Near the house was the F16 in Uppsala, which every day had over a hundred aircraft take offs with a route over the house. In a special arrangement, the F16 had to temporarily change its flight times and the recording director was in direct contact with the flight tower to announce when various scenes were finished filming. As girls as young as seven can have a tendency to lose teeth, a dentist had to make replacement teeth for both girls, which also came in handy as Liv lost her front teeth during this period. On the first day of filming, Jonna woke up with red dots all over her face, she had caught the measles. Then Astrid Lindgren had to solve the problem by quickly rewriting that scene and giving the lines to Lisabet instead of Mardie.Madicken was a TV series in six episodes, which was cut together for the film Mardie på Junibacken. In the roles:Mardie - Jonna LiljendahlLisabet - Life AlsterlundFather Jonas - Björn GranathMother Kajsa - Monica NordquistAlva - Lis NilheimAbbe - Sebastian HåkanssonUncle Nilsson - Allan EdwallAunt Nilsson - Birgitta AnderssonLinus-Ida - Sif RuudSotarn - Ted ÅströmDoctor Berglund - Björn Gustafsonetc.
