The tenant Samuel August Ericsson (1875-1969) and Hanna Jonsson (1879-1961) met in 1888. They married in 1905 and settled on the farm Näs on the outskirts of Vimmerby. In July 1906, they had a son, Gunnar, who became a member of Parliament for the Farmers' Union, and Astrid Anna Emilia was born in November 1907. The family was expanded with two more daughters, Stina and Ingegerd.Throughout their lives, the two loved each other dearly. The book is Astrid Lindgren's personal tribute to them and love.
