"The last major artistic work that Astrid Lindgren did was the Story Train at Junibacken in Stockholm. In 1994, she and the illustrator Marit Törnqvist started work on writing scripts and creating the environments from the books.Marit Törnqvist has told: "First it was read aloud. After I had read a piece, we could talk about the set design and find the right words. It was an incredible experience to be with her as she searched for the right note. Every time I was surprised by her way of expressing herself. As if she threw all the words up in the air, caught half of them, and then decided on an order of her own.”It took nearly two years and on June 8, 1996 Junibacken opened to the public. In the book Sagoresan, we get the same story as on the Sagotåget. We start at Madicken's, but also take a turn past Emil, Karlsson on the roof, Nils Karlsson Pyssling, Ronja and the Brothers Lionheart."
