"In 1978, Astrid Lindgren was awarded the German bookstore's peace prize. She shaped her acceptance speech into a flaming and urgent appeal against violence and tyranny. The speech is just as relevant today, with its straightforward description of the mechanisms of evil and our strong longing for peace.The 2018 edition of the speech includes a foreword by Marta Santos Pais, UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Violence Against Children. She leads the UN's international efforts to prevent and eliminate all violence against children. The afterword is written by Tomas Hammarberg, one of Sweden's most internationally known experts in human rights work. Children's rights are close to Thomas' heart and for many years he worked to make the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child a reality.Also included is Astrid Lindgren's poem Vore jag Gud, and the edition is richly illustrated by Stina Wirsén.“We all want peace.
